My name is Perry Laycock,(owner/painter) I am local and a 3rd generation Californian the youngest of 5 children and born in San Francisco, CA I founded Tradesman Painting & Decorating Lic.778435 in may of 2000 after I passed the CSLB business and trade Examination at the federal building in Oakland,CA.
I started my painting career when I was 19 years old I worked for the point reyes national seashore park service (YACC) in the “building and utilities”department painting the “old red barn” which survived the great quake of 1906 and the “lighthouse” built in 1870 both are archived in the California historical register of landmarks.
After that I worked for Alpha Painting and Waterproofing a High-rise painting company that did waterproofing jobs in the financial district in San Francisco,CA after 2 years there I joined the painters and tapers union located on Newhall drive in San Francisco I worked for Rainbow Painting and Decorating a serious business that did huge waterproofing on some great old buildings 400 Montgomery street, 1001 California street and the Pacific Union club just to name a few, those buildings also survived the 1906 earthquake.
Wanting to work in marin and learn about residential painting and drywall, I was blessed to work for Bob Kunst Painting Inc.(Kunst means “Art” in German and there family started making and selling paint going back to the 1870’s) As a job foreman for 10 years, while working there I attended and graduated from the PDCA 3 year certified Apprenticeship program where I met a volunteer teacher named Wolfgang Heinritz the 3rd who was a master painter of faux marble and other decorative finishes a really incredible person and gifted painter with a history of painting faux marble dating to the early 1800’s the combination of those experiences are what have given me my skill and my core concepts for painting and being a painter/contractor for over 29 years.
I have incorporated all of those experiences and training today into my very own business,
Tradesman Painting & Decorating Lic.778435
I look forward to giving you a positive experience and paint job that
you will enjoy for many years to come.
Perry J Laycock.
